My experience in Korea made me start searching how to go abroad to study English or to get a working visa.
I went to some information sessions by study abroad agencies and to see my friend who had gotten a working visa before.
I had not seen her since we graduated from an university, so I think that I was so active that I could contact her.
She stayed in Canada and I also felt like going there somehow.
However, I was not thinking about getting a visa seriously at that time. So I didn't tell my parents that I was doing such things. I was concerned about making my employment gaps longer.
So I just asked them to talk about their experiences.
What she was telling me was that I needed to apply for a working visa to the Canadian government first and because they do visa lottery, all of applicants can be selected but it would take about 3 months to get an invitation from them.
She said that it took her 4 months.
I see. I thought that I would just apply for it and could make a decision if I go or not while waiting. And then as soon as I said goodbye to her, I applied for it at home.
I had thought that I had 3 months to make up my mind.
However, 4 days after I applied, I got a notification that I was selected by the lottery.
I got so surprised and doubted if it was fake and searched much information but it was real.
Let's go. Wanna go.
I didn't understand the situation at that time well, but decided to go so quickly.
I'm usually an indecisive person, so that was a incredibly quick decision for me.
I told my friend that and she also got surprised. I chose a local study abroad agency which she used, not major companies in Japan.
After I made a decision, I told my parents that I would go to Canada.
I guess they had complicated feelings. Since my parents were very conservative, it was not easy for them to accept my decision, I imagine.
But they saw me recovering after coming back from Korea and restarting to go outside the door though I had stayed at home for long, and they were glad that I was trying to get back on my feet and agreed with my will.
Since then, everything was decided so quickly such as a language school, a homestay family, a departure date, a flight, and so on.
I heard that it usually took about 6 months to be ready, but it was only 2 months and half since I talked with my friend for the first time when I departed.
I had a sensation that something invisible pushed my back strongly and strongly to go to Canada.
It was my first time to have such sensation.
Worried about my employment gaps.
Wondering if I can find a job when I come back to Japan.
Rather than such negative thoughts,
I have made a right decision. It must be right.
I thought so strongly that invisible power pulled me even though there were no guarantee.
Had a strange experience.
